WFI Elections: Vinesh Phogat Breaks Her Silence, Calls Sanjay Singh ‘Like Brij Bhushan’s Son’

As the Wrestling Federation of India controversy continues to bring new updates every day, Vinesh Phogat also came up with her opinion on Sanjay Singh’s appointment as the new WFI president.

Commonwealth Games medalist Vinesh Phogat called Sanjay Singh as ‘Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s son’ while talking about the situation.

“Since winning the election, Sanjay Singh whose house did Sanjay Singh go to? Look at who was honoured with garlands, as Sanjay Singh was only standing next to someone (Brij Bhushan). His wordings about ‘dabdaba’ (power), clearly indicated that he is like king or God,” Vinesh said with Aaj Tak.

“Sanjay Singh is like Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s child. We don’t even have to point this out, they’ve been saying this themselves. Sanjay Singh becoming WFI president is like Brij Bhushan Singh getting the power, there’s no difference,” she added.

Sanjay Singh was elected as the new WFI President on December 21 which came to the disappointment of protesting wrestlers like Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia because of Sanjay’s involvement with former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

However, soon after Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia claimed to quit wrestling and return the honours given to them, the Sports Ministry went ahead to suspend the elected board after ‘hasty’ decisions taken by the board.

“I was on a flight. I don’t know the details and have not received any letter yet. I will make a public statement only after going through the letter. I have heard that some decisions have been reversed.” Sanjay Singh after his suspension.
