Kolkata: Heavy rains lashed Kolkata on Wednesday, causing waterlogging in some parts of the metropolis and disrupting normal life. The officers provided this information.

Waterlogging was also reported at Amherst Street, Thanthania, Central Avenue and Nayabad among other places.
Waterlogging has also been reported in several cities of South Bengal like Kharagpur, Haldia, Contai and Diamond Harbour.
The port city of Haldia in East Midnapore district recorded the highest rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday, the Met Office said.
Kolkata recorded 87 mm of rain during this period.
Heavy rainfall was recorded at Mohanpur (192 mm), Kharagpur (171 mm), Midnapore (171 mm), Kalaikunda (167 mm), Sagar Island (152 mm), Diamond Harbor (150 mm) and Salt Lake among other places. . (52 mm), it said.
