Website offering government jobs charging application fee of Rs 1645 is fake, clarifies PIB

Several days later several candidates made complaints against A. fraudulent websitePress Information Bureau Fact Check has warned government job aspirants against a fake website claiming to be associated with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Students of many universities are demanding online examinations in the wake of the threat of the new version of COVID-19, Omicron, and the fake notices have created panic among many.

The fake website, Rashtriyaunnatikendra.org, is asking job aspirants to pay Rs 1,645 as application fee on the pretext of recruitment in government projects. PIB Fact Check on Sunday tweeted an alert against the website and denied any link between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the organization called ‘National Unnati Kendra’.

The fake website claimed that the Rashtriya Unnati Kendra was introduced to allow job aspirants to register for skill training and employment opportunities through an online portal. The organization boasts of a pan-India presence with a network of around 224 branches and a total business of over Rs 500 crore. The website mentions that the National Unnati Kendra is registered in Chandigarh.

The website, which claims to be part of the government’s Skill India program, had asked all categories of job aspirants to pay a fee of Rs 1,645 for meeting the recruitment process. Launched in 2015, the Skill India initiative was introduced with the aim of training people in the skills demanded by the market and industries. The organization also claims to work with other government partners such as India Post, ISRO, HAL, GAIL and many more.

To stay safe from online frauds, which may result in monetary loss, job aspirants are advised to be vigilant and rely only on government websites for communication regarding recruitment and job opportunities.

Earlier, PIB Fact Check had warned students about a fake UGC notification doing the rounds on social media. The fake notification claimed that the UGC had directed universities and institutions to conduct semester exams offline. However, PIB Fact Check found that no such notice was issued by the UGC.
