‘We Never Go Towards Analysis, Stats and Numbers’: Virat Kohli After India’s Victory at The Oval

New Delhi: Team India achieved a thumping 157-run victory over England in the fourth Test match of India vs England at The Oval on Monday. With this win, the visiting team has now taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series.

Chasing the target of 368 runs given by India, England were all out after scoring 210 runs in their second innings. In the second innings, the Indian bowlers gave big time with the ball. Umesh Yadav, playing his first Test in the Test series, took 6 wickets for India in the match.

At the same time, all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who took three big wickets with half-centuries in both the innings, proved to be a game changer for India.

Reacting to India’s first Test win at the Oval in 50 years, skipper Virat Kohli lauded his players for their outstanding performances.

“Well, I think the best thing about both games is the character the team has shown. We’re not looking to survive in this game, we’re here to win. Shown, really proud of that. It’s pretty relative what you call flat. Conditions were hot and we knew there was a chance when Jadeja was bowling rough. The bowlers were good with reverse swing today. Us We believed we could all get 10 wickets, Kohli told Sky Sports during the post-match presentation.

“As the ball started to reverse, Bumrah said give me the ball. He bowled that spell and turned the game in our favor with those two big wickets. I think you pointed out his performance. Rohit’s innings was brilliant. What Shardul did in this game is different. His two fifties overtook the opposition. I think he batted well in both the innings. We never go for analysis, statistics and numbers.”
