Australia captain Aaron Finch’s run of runs in the ongoing tour of Pakistan continued as he was dismissed for a golden duck in the second ODI. The right-handed batsman was stunned by a low full toss from fast bowler Shaheen Afridi in the first over of the match. Failing to pick up the line of delivery, Finch turned thick, making an easy call to the on-field umpire just before the wicket. The Australian captain immediately returned to the pavilion without thinking of taking the DRS.
Finch, who showed good form while playing for Melbourne Renegades in the last season of Big Bash League, has failed to replicate the success in Pakistan. The Australian captain was dismissed for 23 runs in 36 balls in the first ODI, while Australia scored 313 runs and won the match.
In the second ODI also Australia played a huge innings of 348 runs. However, the score was eventually cleared by Pakistan proving that the pitch was in favor of the batsmen.
The decider of the series will be played on Saturday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After the ODI series, the only T20 match will be played on 5 April.
Finch’s international form in the last one year has been a cause of concern for the Australia team. In his 8 T20 Internationals for the World Cup winning side, Finch has managed to score just 35 runs.
The Australian limited overs captain will now travel to India to join Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 15. Finch, who did not sell at the mega auction earlier this year, was picked up by the Kolkata-based franchise as a replacement for Alex Hales. who withdrew from the tournament citing bio-bubble fatigue. Finch is expected to be available for selection in the IPL after KKR’s first five matches.
