Kolkata Knight Riders star Pat Cummins produced one of the memorable moments of the ongoing IPL 2022, but not with his bowling. In fact, it was a memorable outing for the Australian who took one for 50 in his four overs, but his effort in the field earned him praise from all around.

With three overs to spare, Rajasthan Royals were set to put up a big end with 189/3. Riyan Parag was joined by Shimron Hetmyer after Jos Buttler scored a brilliant century – 103 off 61 – his second ton of the season. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer bowled the ball to his only bowler who managed to evade the onslaught of RR batsmen – Sunil Narine – to bowl in the 18th over.
Parag bowls the first ball of the over over Narayan’s head. At long off, Cummins took an overhead catch while running, but he soon realized that momentum was pushing him towards the ad cushion. Meanwhile, as luck would have it, Shivam Mavi was also running from long-on and Cummins saw him and bowled the ball towards him in time.
However, the ball was a bit high for Mavi, who completed his jump well and took a one-handed catch to complete an incredible turn of events on the field for KKR. The umpires checked whether Cummins had released the ball in time before hitting the cushion and it actually was.

Meanwhile, KKR got off the ground once again. Their captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, Buttler continued his stellar start to the season as he kept the KKR bowlers hitting boundaries in all parts of the field.
He soon scored his third century of IPL career and fell in the 17th over of Cummins after hitting nine fours and five sixes. RR captain Sanju Samson also played a fine hand, scoring 38 off 19 before Hetmyer scored an unbeaten 26 off 13 with RR posting a massive 217/5 in 20 overs.
