The moment MS Dhoni lifted Ravindra Jadeja in the air is now recorded in history.

Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday lifted Ravindra Jadeja after guiding the franchise to their fifth Indian Premier League title. Dhoni, who is known for his calm and composed demeanor, did not control himself on this occasion and straight away lifted Jadeja when he came to the dugout after sealing the win for CSK.

The equation was not easy and many thought the match had slipped out of CSK’s reach, but Jadeja smashed Mohit Sharma for a six and a four in the last two balls to take his side to victory. Even as players in yellow jerseys run on the field, Dhoni remained in the dugout, his eyes closed.

Meanwhile, with the win on Tuesday, Chennai Super Kings have equaled Mumbai Indians’ tally of most IPL trophy wins at 5 times.

While a sensational quick-fire half-century from Sai Sudarshan (96 off 41) along with Wriddhiman Saha’s crucial half-century (54 off 39 balls) went in vain as Gujarat failed to defend their tile in the rain-affected clash. The power-packed performance from the duo helped Gujarat Titans reach 214/4 in 20 overs.

Sudarshan looked flawless during his innings and played some breathtaking shots against an undisciplined bowling line-up. Apart from Sudarshan and Saha, Shubman Gill (39 off 20 balls) and Hardik Pandya (21 off 12 balls) also made important contributions with the bat.

Chasing a tall target, CSK were just 4/0 after the first three balls of the innings, with openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway at the crease, before rain intervened and stopped play.

When play resumed at 12:10 IST (night) after a long delay due to a wet outfield, the revised target for CSK was to chase down 171 in 15 overs.

In the end, CSK won over the defending champions through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) and Devon Conway (47) put on 74 runs to reach the target in just 6.3 overs. Shivam Dube stayed on till the end with an unbeaten 32, but early dismissals of Ajinkya Rahane (27), Ambati Rayudu (19) and Dhoni (0) saw CSK’s chances dwindle. However, Jadeja stood tall and helped Chennai overpower the Titans with a six and a four that will be remembered for a long time.
