When it seemed like MI were losing grip on their seemingly unassailable lead, it was none other than Jasprit Bumrah, who rose as the point of difference.

There are a few certainties in life: the sun rising in the east, taxes, and Jasprit Bumrah rattling the stumps with a ferocious yorker. For Prithvi Shaw, it was the latter that came true today, as the DC opener was dismissed from the crease thanks to a menacing yorker that left the young batter stumped for words.

Credit to MI’s batting lineup that lit up the Wankhede skies with sixes galore, Mumbai Indians set a mammoth target of 235 for visitors Delhi Capitals to chase.

It was probably the last over of Mumbai Indians’ innings that sealed the deal for them tentatively as Romario Shepherd, who was brought in for Kwena Maphaka, smashed Protean pacer Anrich Nortje for a whopping 32 runs.

DC started off on a weak note, unable to keep up with the require run rate and losing David Warner early. But, Prithvi Shaw stood up as the lone ranger and took control of their innings, punishing MI bowlers galore at will tactfully.

And when it seemed like MI were losing grip on their seemingly unassailable lead, it was none other than Jasprit Bumrah, who rose as the point of difference.

As Shaw looked on course to a big innings, Hardik brought out his biggest weapon to stop the DC opener in his tracks. Jasprit Bumrah delivered his fiery yorker to castle Shaw’s stumps in the 12th over and diminish the rising DC hopes.

DC rebounded with a Herculean innings of his own, notching up a trailblazing 71 runs in just 25 balls. But, it would prove to be too little too less, as DC could not bridge the gap that Jasprit Bumrah once again reinstated on the Delhi side with his sensational spell of 2/22 in 4 overs.

Eventually, MI sealed the first win of their campaign, by restricting DC to a hard-fought 205 and clinched a 29-run win.
