Chennai’s performance can be gauged from Ajinkya Rahane’s acrobatic saves in the field. On the last ball of the ninth over, Glenn Maxwell lofted Ravindra Jadeja over long off. Maxwell hit the shot very well and it looked like the ball was going for a six. However, Rahane, fielding at the long-off boundary, got his jump to perfection and sent the ball back inside the rope.

Rahane managed to save five runs with his excellent athleticism on the field. The Indian Premier League shared the video of Rahane’s brilliant save on its official Twitter handle.

As Chennai Super Kings won by just eight runs, it is safe to say that Rahane’s acrobatics made all the difference in the end.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to field first. After Mahipal Lomror was dismissed without troubling the scorers, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis bundled out the inexperienced Super Kings pacers to bundle out the Royal Challengers for 75 for 2 in the powerplay. Even after the powerplay was over, both did not stop and took their team forward by scoring 141 runs for 2 wickets in 12 overs.

But after Mahesh Thikshana got the prized wicket of Maxwell, Chennai were back in the game. In the end, CSK bowlers showed remarkable discipline and restricted Royal Challengers to 218. Chennai Super Kings have moved up to the third spot in the points table after their impressive win.
