When Sushmita Sen returned with Ram Madhvani’s web series Arya, she won everyone’s heart and impressed everyone. While the first season of the show was also nominated for Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards, Aarya 2 was released in December 2020 and again received positive reviews from critics. Needless to say, both the seasons were hits. However, do you know that Kajol was initially approached by director Ram Madhvani for Arya, not Sushmita Sen.
During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Kajol revealed that she was offered Sushmita Sen’s Aarya. When asked if she might make her OTT debut with Aarya, she said, “I was (contacted).” She also admitted that she has watched the show and said, “I did and I loved the script. But it didn’t work for me personally at the time. However, when the actress was asked if she could not accept the project because of the date, Kajol said, “There were other reasons as well.”
Kajol also revealed that she will be making her OTT debut soon, but she refused to share any details about it. However, he also told how there is a lot of pressure to work on the big screen as compared to OTT. “OTT gives you a platform to be a little free. I think when you picture there are so many restrictions for the screen, there are so many things that you can’t do on the screen. There is a need to change the writing. You can’t do that, you can say this and that. There are a lot of restrictions on that in itself. And then you worry about front lagga, political pressure, something else will happen,” she said.
Talking about Arya, director Ram Madhvani recently announced that season three of the show is now in development. He wrote along with the announcement video, “Vikas Producers @madhvaniram, @sushmitasen47, @disneyplushotstar and @endemolshineind collaborate to raise the excitement once again in Arya Season 3.”
