Hyderabad: Superstar Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja starrer Waltair Veeraiyya has done a phenomenal collection at the box office and is emerging as a huge success. It is shaping up to be one of the most successful Chiranjeevi films since his comeback with Prisoner No. 150 seven years ago. Waltair Veeraiya entered the coveted 100 crore club in just 5 days of its release and also became the first Indian film to cross the mark in 2023. $2M gross in the United States. According to trade analysts, the film will emerge as the highest grosser of Chiranjeevi’s career at the end of its theatrical run.
Waltair Veeraiya is a Telugu language action comedy film directed by Bobby Cole. The film featured Chiranjeevi as the titular character alongside Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan and Catherine Tresa. Chiranjeevi is seen playing the role of a smuggler. He is billed as the ‘Pablo Escobar of India’. Meanwhile, Ravi plays a copycat in the action-comedy. The film also stars Shruti Haasan in an important role.
Box office tracking portal Andhra Box Office shared the five-day collection of the film on Twitter. As per his tweet, the film is on its way to be a super hit. “Waltair Veeraiya Five Days Total Worldwide Collection: ₹129.8 Cr. Superb Run! Towards Superhit”.
Chiranjeevi’s last film Acharya bombed at the box office. According to Box Office India, Acharya, made on a budget of Rs 250 crore, had a loss of over Rs 100 crore, which is rare for any Indian film.
Chiranjeevi will next work on his Telugu project Bhola Shankar, which is an official remake of Ajith’s superhit Tamil film Vedalam. The film, directed by Meher Ramesh, also stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles.
