The Delhi Tourism Department will organize its first three-day Bougainvillea Flower Show at the Garden of Five Senses in Saket from April 14.
Bougainvillea flowers of different varieties will be displayed during the show, the tourism department said, adding that they organize various fairs and festivals to promote tourism in the national capital.
According to an official statement, the Delhi Tourism Department will organize the Bougainvillea Flower Show at the Garden of Five Senses in South Delhi’s Saket from April 14 to 16.
Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), NDMC, MCD, University of Delhi, Netaji Subhash University, and Delhi PWD are the major partners of this Bougainvillea Flower Show.
The department said that Bougainvillea is a tropical tufted flowering vine, often used in gardens, walls, fences, etc., but its flowers bloom in summer, although under ideal conditions it can bloom throughout the year.
The main varieties of bougainvillea are Barbara Karst, Raspberry Ice, Singapore White, San Diego Red, Golden Glow and Thai Delight.
“It has 20 species and 300 varieties, which do not require any special soil. It is specifically used as an Ayurvedic medicine for conditions including cough, asthma and other stomach ailments,” the department said. PTI
