Former India opener Virender Sehwag has lauded the fast bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, saying there is no better pair than these two fast bowlers.

Former batsman Virender Sehwag heaped praise on Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in India’s first ODI against England at the Kennington Oval in London. On Tuesday, 12 July, the duo picked up nine wickets as the Men in Blue dismissed their opponent for a modest total of 110 in 25.2 overs.
After the dismissal of Jason Roy and Joe Root in the same over, Bumrah started wreaking havoc. Both Root and Roy could not open their account. Bumrah also took the wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone, who both failed to trouble the scorers much.
Bumrah dismissed Brydon Cars and David Willey after taking six wickets in his first ODI. Shami, on the other hand, took the wickets of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Craig Overton. Sehwag admitted that Bumrah and Shami are different from other fast bowlers.
Sehwag wrote on Twitter, “One day cricket or Test cricket, there can’t be a better pairing in world cricket. Bumrah and Shami are a different class.”
Bumrah, who won the player of the match award after the match, said the bowlers don’t need to work too hard if the conditions are in his favour.
“When there’s swing to offer and seam movement, it’s an exciting time for white-ball cricket. We were very happy when we got some help in the beginning. When I bowled the first ball, I saw some swing… If there’s no swing, you pull your length back. When the ball is doing something, you don’t need to put in a lot of effort. But when the wicket is flat, your accuracy is tested ,” said Bumrah.
