“Virat Kohli needs a little break”, says former India batsman

the former India Batsman and national selector Jatin Paranjpe believes that Virat Kohli Needs a break but is not on the verge of ending. After Kohli’s consistent thin patch, the ongoing debate around his form and cricketing career has caught fire. From cricket fans to former players, everyone is in doubt about Kohli’s career.

“I think the people who are saying he’s finished don’t know what they’re talking about. He’s not finished anywhere. He has more, maybe just a little bit of him.” A break is needed,” Paranjpe said.

Speaking to cricket journalist and anchor Jamie Alter during an episode of his chat show on Glance, Jatin Paranjpe said that Kohli may take a break from the 50-over format.

“Maybe he might at some stage give up the one-day game before the other formats. If you look at the spread of India’s matches in a calendar year, you have about 20 ODIs, seven or eight Test matches, sometimes ten and then 10 T20 matches. So if he really wants a break, distancing himself from the 50-over game, which is becoming more and more meaningless at the bilateral level, is an option he can look at. ,

Although Paranjpe’s opinion on taking a break from the 50-over format may do well for Kohli, his recent performance in the Edgbaston Test also did not attract cricket fans at all.

In the first innings, Kohli was dismissed cheaply by Matthew Potts for just 11 runs. Whereas in the second innings, he was looking good at the crease until English captain Ben Stokes came to break his form. Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring just 20 runs as Joe Root took a good catch with one hand.

Talking about Kohli’s batting in the Edgbaston Test, Paranjpe said that luck did not favor him in both the innings. “He was unlucky in both the innings in this Test match. He took a full sniff in the second innings and looked good in the first dig before a moment of indecision. These things happen,” he said.

Paranjpe looks hopeful about Kohli in the near future as he believes that Kohli can offer a lot more to the team. “There is much more to come from him, which is the biggest positive for this Indian cricket team as it rearranges itself. They will see a lot more contribution from Virat Kohli. ,
