Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vir Das and web series Aarya, led by Sushmita Sen, could not win the 2021 International Emmy Awards. Veer said that it is an honor to represent the country at the award ceremony. Nawazuddin was nominated for Best Performance in the Actor category for his performance. Netflix Scottish actor of the film Serious Men, Deus fame lost to David Tennant.
While Veer’s Netflix comedy special Vir Das: For India Call My Agent from France lost to Season 4 in the Comedy category. The comedian, who is back home for his I Come From To India’s monologue, said he loves French drama.
“I was nominated for Best Comedy at the International Emmy Awards for Jokes. Call My Agent, won a hugely beautiful show I love. But I got this medal, and this scrumptious salad got a really interesting crisp. Eaten with paneer topping. It was an honor to represent my country. Many thanks to @iemmysFor India. It’s always for India. #VirDasForIndia,” he wrote on Instagram. Weir has recently received praise as well as police complaints for his monologue in Washington.
Sushmita’s Aarya, a Disney+ Hotstar The series directed by Ram Madhvani was nominated in the Best Drama Series category along with the second season of El Preside from Chile, Tehran in Israel and There She Goes from the UK. Israel’s Tehran topped the Drama Series category, ending India’s run at the annual awards.
The nominations for the year 2021 were announced in September. The function was organized following the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
