Filmmaker and Michelin star chef Vikas Khanna’s mother has fulfilled what she said before Guneet Monga’s Oscar win and Vikas has got proof. Producer Guneet Monga recently reacted to not being allowed to speak on stage at Oscars 2023 after The Elephant Whispers won. The video of the ceremony went viral in which Guneet is shown holding the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film in her hand, waiting for director Kartiki Gonsalves to complete her speech and take center stage. However, the Academy played her part by not giving Guneet an opportunity to speak.

Speaking to Bombay Times, Guneet said that she was in shock and it was evident on her face on stage. “I didn’t get a chance to give my Oscar speech. I had a look of shock on my face. I just wanted to say that this is India’s first Oscar in an Indian production, which is a big deal. My heart started racing because I couldn’t come that far and not be heard. I’ll go back there and make sure I’m heard.”

It wasn’t just Guneet Monga’s documentary that won big at the Academy Awards this year. RRR’s hit song Naatu Naatu also won the Oscar for Best Original Song, becoming the first Indian and Asian song to receive the honour. The song was also performed on stage at the Oscars. Celebrities like Allu Arjun, Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kajol and many more wrote heartfelt congratulatory messages to the winners on their historic win.
