Vidya Balan said doing The Dirty Picture freed her and she realised that her size was not an issue.

Vidya Balan recently recalled the time when she played Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture. She said that she had to be unabashed and unapologetic to play her character convincingly. This also involved developing a more positive relationship with her body. Vidya also said that after she was praised for her appearance in the film, she realised that it had nothing to do with her size.

Speaking to Samdish Bhatia, Vidya said, “It made me feel… I was being called sexy after the film and I was bearing it all in the film. So I felt that accha, if people thought I was sexy because I felt sexy like this, then it has nothing to do with your size. That really freed me. Then, of course, it’s been a process.”

She was then asked if her relationship with sex has changed with the change in her relationship to her body. Vidya said, “I’ve always enjoyed sex.” She was asked if it has become better. Vidya replied, “For sure, I’ve always been (open about exploring her preferences). I’ve always had a voice where it mattered.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Vidya Balan is currently seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar. The film also features Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy in lead roles. It marks the directorial debut of Shirsha Guha Thakurta.

News18 gave the film a four-star rating. Our review read, “Do Aur Do Pyaar will make you want to fall in love despite all its chaotic messiness. It’s a warm and fuzzy ode to love in all its glory and grime. In this generation of swipe right and left and open romantic choices, it is companionship and communication that has become the foundation of relationships. And who doesn’t want to feel and be loved? Films like this don’t get made very often and it is this novelty that makes it a cut above the rest. It also reinforces the fact that simplicity is bliss and in most times, simplicity is more than enough to hold your undivided attention and it is the need for the same that keeps you going.”

Vidya Balan will soon reprise her role as Manjulika in Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The film will also feature Tripti Dimrii as the female lead. As per reports, Madhuri Dixit has also been roped in to play a ghost in the film. However, there is no confirmation on this yet.

According to the latest reports, Madhuri and Vidya will also feature together in a rendition of Ami Je Tomar, which originally featured Vidya in the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa film.
