There was an atmosphere of panic in Bhajogi of Himachal’s tourist city Manali on Sunday afternoon when a gas cylinder exploded due to a sudden fire in a five-storey house. Once people panicked at the fear of a bomb going off and a stampede broke out. Later the fire was brought under control.
Although all the people living in the house got out safely, but two floors of the house were completely burnt due to the fire, in which goods worth lakhs of rupees have been damaged. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The house in which the fire broke out belongs to a person named Uttam Chand. Neighbors saw smoke coming out of the house and informed the fire brigade. Simultaneously, people started efforts to extinguish the fire at their level. Due to the explosion in the cylinder kept in the house, the fire got worse. The whole area was shaken by the loud bang.

Landlord Uttam Chand had left the house soon after the fire broke out. Even after a long time, the fire brigade vehicle could not reach the spot. Seeing the time taken for the team to reach due to heavy snowfall, nearby people gathered and started extinguishing the fire. By the time the fire brigade team arrived, the fire had spread to the entire floor. The fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after a lot of efforts.
Fire Station Manali in-charge Prem said that as soon as the information was received, the team reached the spot. The fire is doused and now the situation is under control. There was damage on two floors of the house.
