Venture capital funding: Startups raise $17 billion – Times of India

New Delhi: Indian startups received $16.9 billion in venture capital funding in 2021, second only to Chinese counterparts in the Asia-Pacific.APAC) Country, global-data said on Friday.
“Despite the large and slow economic recovery of the third wave of COVID, venture capital (VC) investors are expressing confidence in the Indian startup ecosystem. In fact, Indian startups stood only after Chinese counterparts. You funding value between APAC countries during January to July 2021,” the leading data and analytics company said.
An analysis of Global-Data’s financial deals database shows that a total of 828 VC funding deals were announced in India during January-July 2021, while the total disclosed funding value of these deals stood at $16.9 billion.
Some of the notable VC funding deals announced in India during January-July 2021 include $3.6 billion raised by Flipkart, $502 million raised by Mohalla Tech (sharechat), Zomato’s approximately $500 million in capital, and $460 million raised by Think and Learn (Byju’s).
The increasing penetration of smartphones and affordable mobile internet has transformed India into the first digital economy. As a result, tech startups are the biggest beneficiaries of this trend.
