Vadodara: Eight-month-old calf injured after being hit by speeding truck Vadodara-Halol Highway Thanks to an emergency response team that reached the spot through a Mobile Veterinary Dispensary (MVD) on Thursday, he was saved.
In the last one year, more than 62,000 animals have been given free treatment through such MVDs in Vadodara district. On Thursday morning, a cow was crossing the road with its calf near Amaliyara village on the Vadodara-Halol highway, when suddenly a truck hit them.
A caller impersonating himself as Nakul Vaishnav was passing through the road and saw the accident and called the animal emergency line of 1962 started by GVK EMRI and Gujarat Animal Husbandry Department.
“An MVD of Amreshwar village along with veterinarians reached the spot. He saw that the leg of the calf was completely damaged. He carried out the entire operation on the spot without wasting any time and saved the life of the calf. Later, our team also sent the calf to the gaushala,” said Jamil Dave, project in-charge of Vadodara.
So far 17 MVDs have been established in Vadodara district.
“The service has also completed one year since its inception. So far, a total of 62,209 animals have been treated during the program (58,944 in the 10 villages allotted) and 3,265 animals have been treated in case of emergency.
MVDs were established in Vadodara taluka namely Nandesari, Sindhrot, Ramnath, Muwal, Sarswani in Padra taluka, Kamba, Karmadi in Karjan taluka, Anandi, Vaniyad in Shinor, Karnali and Simlia in Dabhoi, Amreshwar and Rajpura, Vemar and Savali in Waghodia and . in Champaner Valavav and Varsada village in Savli taluka of Vadodara district.
