Rain Alert in Uttarakhand: The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in most of the hilly areas including Chardham of Uttarakhand for the next two to three days.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Disaster Management Department, Police Administration and all the District Magistrates to be on alert.
Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Disaster Management Department has appealed to all local residents and travelers to maintain vigilance, keep distance from river drains and stay at safe places after warning. Commuters to and from Uttarakhand are also requested to plan their journey keeping in view the weather warnings and appeals have been made to avoid traveling during this period.
In view of the heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the CM took information from the Chief Secretary about the situation in the state. The CM directed that the police, SDRF and other concerned personnel should be kept on high alert at sensitive places. Kedarnath yatra stopped
After two days of high alert by the Meteorological Department, the district administration has temporarily postponed the Kedarnath Yatra in view of the safety of the devotees.
Pilgrims are being stopped at Sonprayag and have been advised to stay at safer places. Along with this, teams of police and district administration are also deployed at various stops, which are giving weather information to the passengers.
Now the journey will be resumed when the weather becomes normal.
