Uttar Pradesh jeweler shoots himself accidentally while laden with pistol

A 35-year-old man died after accidentally being shot by his own licensed pistol at his own house in Sarvodaya Nagar, Lucknow under Indira Nagar police station area. The deceased Rahul Verma had a small jewelery shop.

Rahul was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he was declared brought dead late on Saturday night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northern Zone, Prachi Singh said that preliminary investigation revealed that Rahul was playing with his licensed pistol which he had brought in March this year.

His father Devi Singh said in a police statement that Rahul was sitting in the front room on the ground floor and was looking at the pistol when the bullet was accidentally fired. Due to which a bullet hit Rahul’s face.

“We were in the jewelery store when our daughter-in-law Kanchan was feeding the baby upstairs. Hearing the sound of bullets, she ran into the room and saw that Rahul was lying in a pool of blood. We took him to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.”

Prachi Singh said that a team of the forensic department was called, which took a pistol for ballistic investigation and also examined the crime scene.
