TCS Work From Home: Some employees may never have to go to office, know IT giant’s mega plan

As the situation with respect to COVID-19 improves across the world, major information technology companies are transitioning to a hybrid mode of working. Employees are choosing to spend time both remotely and working in the office. TCS said it is introducing a ’25X25 model’ and setting up occasional operating areas (OOZs) and hot desks for its employees.

“We will be bringing our employees back to the offices in the coming months. We are already starting to encourage our associates to return to their respective offices. Senior management level officers have started working regularly from the offices. Our offices around the world are adhering to all social distancing and COVID-19 protocols that have been implemented around the start of the pandemic, and are extremely safe for employees to work,” TCS said in its work from home location. It added that the company looks forward to seeing its campuses filled with youthful energy across all of our global offices spread across 46 countries in the coming months. “We are committed to adopting our futuristic and path-breaking 25X25 model.”

The company said this model would require no more than 25 percent of its associates to work from the office at any given time, and that they would not need to spend more than 25 percent of their time in the office. “But, an important part of the journey of the 25/25 model is to first bring people back to physical offices and gradually transition to the hybrid work model.”

The company is gradually moving towards an agile model by shifting infrastructure and adopting digital infrastructure. It has established more agile workplaces around the world, allowing its partners to work and engage with fellow team members from any TCS office. “Our agile workspace is intelligent, automated and cloud-based digital infrastructure that is adaptable to accommodate evolving security policies and regulations, is resilient to the onslaught of cyberattacks and supports a work-from-anywhere operating model “

Additionally, the company has established Occasional Operating Zones (OOZs) and hot desks. “These OOZs allow our associates to plug into their systems in any office across the country and connect with the global workforce instantly. The last two years have been a total disruption in the way we think, live and work.”

TCS said that there is definitely excitement about being back at work, people want to meet their colleagues. This hybrid model enables greater flexibility for the employees and thus appears to be a welcome change in the industry.

Other leading IT firms Infosys, Cognizant, HCL Tech are also moving towards a hybrid model of work and are planning a phased return of employees. “We are also committed to keep our business as normal as possible, thereby ensuring uninterrupted services to our customers. Presently, we are monitoring the situation and continue to operate in a hybrid model,” said an HCL spokesperson.
