Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh The state reached a new milestone in the fight against COVID on Monday with the number of administered doses of vaccine crossing the 150 million mark. This figure is 33% higher than the total number of doses administered in the next claimant state, Maharashtra.
Talking about the people, 10.62 crore people in the state have been partially vaccinated, while 4.37 crore people have taken both the doses. Considering that the total number of eligible persons in UP is 15.04 crores, this means that more than 29% of the population is fully vaccinated and 71% are taking just one vaccine dose. Appreciating the achievement, the senior health officials directed the staff to keep pace till all the eligible persons are vaccinated and appealed to the people to take their proper vaccination in personal and social interest.
Meanwhile, 12 new Covid-19 cases were reported across the state in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 17.10 lakh on Monday. Cases were reported from eight districts. The official bulletin said that eight people have recovered from the corona virus infection and the number of recoveries has increased to 16.87 lakh, which is a recovery rate of over 98%.
After recounting by accommodating new cases and recoveries, the state has 104 active cases in 34 districts. Of the total, over 55% are concentrated in only three districts, with Gautam, Buddh Nagar having the highest, followed by Lucknow and Prayagraj.
The total number of people who have died due to the pandemic is 22,909 as no death has been reported. Health officials urged people to get themselves vaccinated for their second dose at the earliest to ensure maximum protection against the viral disease.
