Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ from Shravasti district on Monday to ensure 100% enrollment in primary and upper primary schools of Uttar Pradesh. This will be an effort by the state government towards shaping the future of primary education and overall development of primary schools, said an official release issued here. The Chief Minister has directed the officials that priority should be given to the districts with low literacy rate and the primary schools of the state should be equipped with better facilities.

According to the release, the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ is being launched from Shravasti district, which has the lowest literacy rate in the state, followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Badaun and Rampur. Adityanath said government schools should achieve all the goals of ‘Operation Kayakalp’, which aims to give a facelift to schools.

According to the release, he told the officials that not only the public representatives would join the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’, but the legislators would also have to adopt one school each. Apart from this, the authorities should also adopt schools for their overall development, the Chief Minister said. Adityanath also directed that all government schools should provide basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, furniture and smart classes to the students.

He said that departmental officers should campaign to collaborate with alumni (of government schools) and private firms for the transformation of government schools. Adityanath said that instructions have also been issued to the basic education department to gear up for the campaign and ensure deployment of teachers in all government schools. Under the campaign, uniforms and shoes and socks will be provided to the students, the release said.
