new Delhi: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday allocated portfolios to eight of his cabinet colleagues.

Sawant, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Goa for the second time in a row on March 28, retained the Home and Finance ministries.

ANI reported that as per the notification issued, they also have the departments of Personnel, Vigilance and Official Language.

Vishwajit Rane, who is said to be the chief minister’s political rival, has got the Health and Women and Child Development portfolios.

Rane has also been given the charge of urban development, town and village planning (TCP) and forest departments.

Former independent MLA Rohan Khunte, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the assembly elections, has been given the tourism department.

Khunte, an MLA from Porvorim constituency in North Goa district, has also been assigned information technology and other key portfolios like printing and stationery.

Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate is now the Minister of Revenue, Labor and Waste Management of Goa.

  • Atanasio Monserrate: Revenue, Labor and Waste Management Portfolio.
  • Ravi Naik: Ministry of Agriculture, Handicrafts and Civil Supplies.
  • Subhash Shirodkar: Department of Water Resources, Cooperation and Provedoria.
  • Nilesh Cabral: Department of Public Works (PWD), Legislative Affairs, Environment, and Law and Judiciary.
  • Mauvin Godinho: Ministry of Transport, Industry, Panchayats and Protocol.

In the recent assembly elections in Goa, BJP has emerged as the single largest party.

The saffron party, which won 20 seats in the 40-member Goa Assembly, secured the support of regional outfit Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and three independent legislators to form the government for the third time in a row.
