Uttar Pradesh: Case Registered Against Three for Proscribing Dalits from Attending Feast at Temple

When some people from the Scheduled Caste community reached the temple to attend the feast, they were allegedly asked to sit separately and were later not allowed to attend.

Police said on Monday that a case has been registered against three people for refusing to attend a feast organized for Dalits after the recitation of Bhagavad Gita in Rajpur Kalan village of Amla area.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Aggarwal said that a case was registered against all the accused involved in the organizers of the banquet at the Amla police station on Sunday night.

The incident took place on January 26 at the Kali Mandir premises where the feast was organised. When some people from the Scheduled Caste community reached there to attend the feast, they were allegedly asked to sit separately and were later not allowed to join.

Bhim Army leader Ajay Pradhan along with his supporters filed a complaint in the case against three brothers – Sunderlal, Roshan Maurya and Nanhe Maurya, who were booked under sections of IPC and SC/ST Atrocities Act. Investigation is going on in the matter.
