US welcomes Haiti interim government, says Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday that the formation of Haiti’s interim government was a positive and necessary step, nearly two weeks after President Jovenel Mois was killed in an assassination plot.

“The United States welcomes efforts by Haiti’s political leadership to elect an interim prime minister and a unity cabinet to determine the way forward in the wake of the heinous killing of Jovanel Mosse,” Blinken said in a statement.
