US to send air-launched rockets to Ukraine in next aid package

The United States plans to announce as soon as Wednesday a new military aid package worth $300 million for Ukraine, which will include for the first time a short-range air-launched rocket taken from US excess stocks.

The Hydra 70 rocket is a 2.75-inch diameter air-launched, unguided rocket built by General Dynamics GD.N. Rockets are usually loaded into a circular, 19 tube rocket launcher pod that is attached under the wings of aircraft or helicopters.

The package also includes over 155-millimeter howitzers, but it is not stated whether they are self-propelled or truck-towed.
