US evacuates 4 civilians via overland route, first since its August pullout from Afghanistan

New Delhi: Four US citizens were evacuated from Afghanistan on Monday using an underground route. It was one of the first evacuations by the US since the withdrawal of troops from the country.

“Our embassy greets Americans crossing the border into a third country,” an official said in a CNN report.

According to an ANI report, the officer also confirmed that he was the first American to be facilitated in this way.

Oklahoma Republican Representative Markwayne Mullin has said that the evacuation; A woman and her three children are from Amarillo, Texas.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken along with Defense Secretary Lloyd J Austin met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha. The country has been supporting a safe evacuation from Afghanistan, including by Americans and Afghans trying to escape the Taliban regime.

Blinken met the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday. Secretary Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III, thanked Al Thani for Qatar’s exceptional support in facilitating the safe transit of American citizens, partners and other Afghans at risk.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense and Amir also discussed other important bilateral issues and initiatives to promote regional security and prosperity, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
