Roads have been submerged in water and life has come to a standstill in many parts of Chiplun and Nanded in Maharashtra.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many parts of Maharashtra for the next two days. These districts include Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Mumbai. Earlier, NDRF teams have been kept on alert in all these districts in view of the devastation caused after the rains. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rains in many parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to its direction being northwest, its effect will be on the whole of Maharashtra. Its maximum impact will be in North Konkan. According to IMD, people may have to face difficulties due to heavy in the low-lying areas of Vidarbha including Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Buldhana, Jalna, Akola, Yavatmal, Amravati in Maharashtra.

Earlier, due to heavy rains in Beed in the state, the water content in Majalgaon dam had reached 100 per cent of the storage capacity. After which 10 gates were opened on Monday as a precautionary measure in view of the flow of water.

The situation started deteriorating again in Chiplun
Chiplun, which was affected by the floods a few days ago, has been raining again during the last few hours, after which knee-deep water has started accumulating on the roads. Low-lying areas of the city were flooded on Tuesday morning. Chiplun Municipality has deployed people associated with the Disaster Management Committee in the affected areas. A helpline number has also been issued to help the people. The local Tehsildar has said that boats have also been brought in some places and NDRF teams have also been deployed for relief work.

Situation deteriorated in five tehsils of Nanded
Roads in cities and villages in Maharashtra’s Nanded have also been submerged due to heavy rains. Roads in Bhokar, Hadgaon, Himayatnagar, Mukhed and Ardhpuri in the district were submerged in water after overnight rains. Even the morning newspaper and milk have not reached these areas. If the rain continues continuously, the situation may become more serious.
