Manipur Police informed about this on 2 June 140 weapons were surrendered across the state in response to an appeal by Union minister Amit Shah. A day earlier, the minister had warned the miscreants and ordered them to hand over their guns to the police as “a search operation would begin from tomorrow, which would force the authorities to take stern action.” Amit Shah further announced that a judicial commission headed by a retired High Court judge would probe the matter. The Union minister was on a four-day visit to Manipur, where violence has erupted since May, in an attempt to restore peace.

Periodic table removed from class 10 textbooks

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a clarification in response to critical complaints Explicit removal of periodic table from class 10 textbooks, According to the council, the subject has been shifted to Class 11 textbooks only in a rationalization effort to reduce the burden on students in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Other topics have been withdrawn or shifted among different subjects by NCERT. In a series of tweets, the council has explained the reasons for revising the Class 10 syllabus.

Janardhan Prasad appointed new Director General of GSI

One of the oldest agencies in India, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has named Janardan Prasad as its new Director General, Prasad has been replaced in this role by replacing Dr. S. Raju, who has held the position since May 2020. Prasad is a geologist who is famous for his vast mineral exploration work in Saurashtra and other areas of Gujarat. He started working for the 174 year old scientific organization in 1988 at GSI Gandhinagar.

Chandrayaan-3 reaches launch port

In form of Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft reaches Satish Dhawan Space Center For a proposed launch in July this year at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, M Sankaran, director of the UR Rao Satellite Centre, reported that the mood at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was “excited” and “apprehensive”. “Every aspect of the mission has been taken care of, especially from the Chandrayaan 2 experience, and all possible precautions have been taken,” Sankaran said in an exclusive chat with News18.

India records 288 new cases of COVID-19; Active tally drops to 3,925

According to the data published by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, 288 new coronavirus infections have been reported in India, however, now 3,925 less active cases compared to three days earlier (4,222). Data updated at 8 am saw the death toll rise to 5,31,872 with two deaths.
