In addition, the club will also undertake activities such as sharing of best practices, case studies at regular intervals regarding proper shutdown of computers, installing and maintaining updated antivirus software on computers, keeping internet browsers up to date. and being alerted to unusual computer activity or problems.

Students will also be sensitized about changing passwords frequently, not opening emails and attachments from unknown people, not becoming online friends of unknown people, being careful about sharing content online, and using the strongest privacy setting possible when creating profiles.

They will be motivated to avoid connecting to unknown Wi-Fi networks and unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots and not to share information related to sensitive and financial aspects on social media.

According to the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal, more than 50 percent of cyber crimes are related to online financial frauds.

A state government spokesperson said: “In view of the rising incidents of cyber crimes, it is important to spread awareness among the youth who can lead from the front and help prevent it.”

Cybercrime can be defined as mallet attack (use of malicious software like ransomware, viruses), phishing (getting sensitive information like username, password, credit/debit card details etc.), attacks on critical infrastructure, unauthorized data access, online financial frauds, regarded as a crime against Women and children like cyber stalking, child pornography etc.
