First of all, know this why Brahmin voters are necessary in UP?
The number of Brahmin voters in Uttar Pradesh is about 12 percent. There are 60 assembly constituencies out of 403 where Brahmin voters are in the deciding role. Here the number of Brahmin voters is more than 20%. There are four such assembly constituencies including Prayagraj, where the number of Brahmins is more than 40%. The meaning is clear, the importance of Brahmin voters is very important in getting the power of UP. Let’s start with the 2007 election. Then the BSP had fielded 63 Brahmin candidates and 41 of them had won. Mayawati’s government was formed. Then he gave the slogan, ‘There is no elephant, Ganesh is Brahma, Vishnu is Mahesh’. This was a big political bet of Mayawati and it was successful too. Combination of Dalit and Brahmin voters was formed and everyone unitedly voted for BSP.

In 2012, BJP had fielded maximum 62 Brahmin candidates, while BSP had fielded BSP 58, SP 38 and Congress 52 Brahmin candidates. Then the Brahmin votes were divided and the Samajwadi Party gained power by forming a Yadav-Muslim alliance.

In the 2017 assembly elections, 58 Brahmins were elected out of 312 BJP MLAs. At present there are nine Brahmin ministers in the state. Pro. Dinesh Sharma was made Deputy CM. Apart from this, nine Brahmin ministers including Shrikant Sharma, Brajesh Pathak, Jitin Prasad, Satish Chandra Dwivedi, Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Ramnaresh Agnihotri, Anil Sharma, Anand Swaroop Shukla were made.
Eight times Brahmins were chief ministers, since 1989 Brahmins have lagged behind
In the history of Uttar Pradesh, Brahmins have been the Chief Minister for the maximum number of times. Govind Vallabh Pant, Sucheta Kriplani, Pt. Kamalapati Tripathi, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, Narayan Dutt Tiwari and Shripati Mishra performed this responsibility. Narayan Dutt Tiwari was the Chief Minister of UP thrice. December 5, 1989 was the last day of his tenure and since then no Brahmin has been able to become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Then this Brahmin has remained only as a vote bank.

Three reasons why Brahmin voters are important?

1. 12% stake : Political analyst Prof. MP Singh says, ‘After OBC, SC and Muslim voters, the number of Brahmin voters is the highest. About 12% of Brahmin voters not only play a decisive role in the elections, but are also ahead in creating the electoral environment. There are many sections that listen to the Brahmin class.’

2. Image is better, no core party fixed: Brahmin voters are also important because their image is better. In the field of education also Brahmins have played an important role. At the same time, despite the number being decent, there is no particular party fixed for Brahmins. Just like Yadav voters are seen associating with Samajwadi Party, Dalit voters with Bahujan Samaj Party, in the same way Brahmin voters are not associated with any particular party. Earlier, the role of Brahmins in the Congress was important, but now with the advent of the new generation, it is almost finished.

3. Along with Brahmins other classes of general also come together : Along with Brahmin voters, voters of other castes of the general category also join. Other castes including Kayasthas, Bhumihars, Baranwals, Banias, Rajputs are included in this. Generally there is talk of differences between Thakurs and Brahmins, but on many issues Brahmins and Thakurs also become one. In such a situation, the association of Brahmin voters with any party also affects the castes of other general classes.
BSP : Bahujan Samaj Party’s national general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra has taken the responsibility of wooing Brahmin voters. Brahmin conference of BSP has been held in 75 districts. Mayawati herself has said that Brahmins will get due respect if the BSP government is formed.

Samajwadi Party : SP chief Akhilesh Yadav alleges that Brahmins have been harassed the most in the BJP government. Encounters of many Brahmins took place. The Chief Minister has been accusing Yogi Adityanath of doing Thakurism. Recently, Akhilesh unveiled the idol of Lord Parshuram. It was also announced that if the government is formed, then the biggest statue of Lord Parashuram will be built in Uttar Pradesh. The SP also addressed several Brahmin meetings.

B J P : The ruling BJP has nine Brahmin ministers and 58 Brahmin MLAs. BJP has formed a team to make Brahmin voters in their favour. Many Brahmin leaders and ministers have been included in this.
