A Pakistani infiltrator was gunned down near the International Border in Jammu’s Arnia sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Border Security Force (BSF) sources said on Monday. He said that the incident happened on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Commenting on the development, the BSF said that its personnel on patrolling duty noticed suspicious activity in Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

BSF said, “BSF Jammu personnel opened fire on suspected movement of Pakistani infiltrator in Arnia sector of Jammu region in front of border column number 978.”

The force said the firing took place on the intervening night of January 2-3 and the search operation is on.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh on Friday said that in 2021 a total of 182 terrorists, including 44 top militants, were killed in 100 successful operations in the Union Territory.

He also said that this year 134 youths joined the terror ranks in the Union Territory, out of which 72 were neutralized and 22 were arrested.

“Infiltration has come down this year, only 34 terrorists have managed to infiltrate. Apart from this, nine Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists involved in an attack on a police bus in Pantha Chowk were killed in the last 24 hours.
