Lucknow: Involved in claims and counter-claims at crime scene with ruling BJP and major opposition Samajwadi Party UP Under their respective regimes, senior leaders of BJP’s chief election strategist Amit ShahThe recent challenge to former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for a debate on this issue has struck a chord.
Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday announced that he is ready for any challenge.
The SP chief took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to announce that he was ready for any challenge. “Hum har challenge ke liye abhi taiyyar hain … such ko taiyyari ki zaroorat nahi padegi … woh jaghan batayen, samay batayen (I am ready for every challenge right away … no preparation will be required to speak the truth … inform me about the place and time),” Akhilesh tweeted.
Former UP CM’s tweet is being seen in the light of Amit Shah’s recent visit Muzaffarnagar Where on Saturday, while addressing Voter Samvad (interaction with voters), he attacked Akhilesh saying that SP is not ashamed to make false claims and lie so fluently that some people may believe it to be true. This was in the context of allegations of poor law and order situation in UP under the Yogi regime of Akhilesh. Shah had said, “… If you have guts, do a press conference about your time… (… If he has guts, he should take his governance figures and address a press conference). ”
The Union Home Minister dismissed Akhilesh’s allegation as a “lie” and claimed that the crime figures tell otherwise. “In the last five years, the incidents of dacoity and dacoity have come down by 70 and 69.3% respectively. The count of murders has dropped by 30%,” said Amit Shah. “We are in this election after fulfilling more than 95% of the promises made in our last election manifesto,” Shah said.
Akhilesh also attacked the ruling BJP for fielding candidates with criminal records. He said: “The BJP is all set to create a century of fielding candidates with criminal background. He has given tickets to 99 candidates so far and is about to cross the 100 mark. This was in response to allegations leveled by BJP leaders including the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on fielding candidates of SP having extensive criminal history.
Earlier, BJP leader Nahid Hasan of SP’s Kairana and Azam Khan |K’s son Abdullah Azam claimed that many of the party’s candidates are either in jail or have recently been released on bail.
The first phase of polling for the 2022 assembly elections is on February 10 in 58 assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts.
