Union Minister of Fisheries Parshottam Rupala launches Nandi – NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System

New Delhi: Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry Minister Parshottam Rupala on Monday launched the Nandi-NOC approval for new drug and vaccination system portal at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi. With this portal, DAHD will further streamline the regulatory approval process with transparency for evaluation and scrutiny of veterinary product proposals through seamless integration with SUGAM portal of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.

Rupala appreciated the excellent work of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) and termed this initiative as an important step towards furthering Digital India and promoting the welfare of livestock and livestock industry. The launch of Nandi Portal is another noteworthy initiative after the Animal Vaccination Coverage initiative and Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs).

This initiative will also provide valuable assistance to researchers and industries from a commercial point of view. Increasing awareness among livestock farmers and improving logistics facilities will increase the consumption of medicines. The Union Minister stressed on the importance of closely monitoring the activities of the portal for a few months to establish a robust system. Shri Rupala appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders including CDAC in the development of Nandi Portal.

On this occasion, Dr. Sanjeev Balyan, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of India appreciated the efforts of the department in line with the Digital India mission.

Veterinary vaccines have had and are having a major impact not only on animal health and production, but also on human health through increasing the safe food supply and preventing animal-to-human transmission of infectious diseases. It is a part of our entire ecosystem. It is important to keep our livestock healthy and maintain a regular supply of vaccines and medicines

DAHD is making constant efforts to facilitate timely regulatory approval process, which is very important for the availability of veterinary drugs and vaccines in the country.

The DAHD is working towards improving the regulatory process through setting up of empowered committees such as the Empowered Committee for Animal Health (ECAH) under the chairmanship of the PSA (Government of India), which seeks to establish flexible, farmer-centric animal health systems in India. Working towards building and bringing forward the health system. Transformation to ensure the long-term success of India’s livestock sector.

Under ECAH, Regulatory Subcommittee, consisting of various veterinary experts from industry and academia, has been constituted to comprehensively deliberate, efficiently act and provide recommendation/policy inputs on introduction of veterinary vaccines/biological/drugs in the department done with the aim of providing its opinion.
