UGC Asks Students, Faculty to Register on Fit India Movement

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested all Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and their affiliated colleges to motivate students and faculty to register on FIT. India Door. Students and employees can register themselves and update the data of fitness activities through Fit India website fitindiahe.education.gov.in.

“The mission of the movement is to bring about behavioral change and move towards a more physically active lifestyle,” the UGC statement said.

The proposed initiative under this mission aims to support indigenous sports and bring fitness to every educational institution. Colleges/Universities have also been directed to create a platform for citizens to share information, raise awareness and narrate personal fitness stories.

Meanwhile, some of the draft rules for deemed-to-be universities issued by the UGC earlier this month have not gone down well with the institutions. The regulations include prohibiting donations or capitation fees, tracking fee structures for various courses, and requiring these universities to set aside a significant corpus fund for development purposes.

The norm on the fixed tenure of the Chancellor, which should be for a maximum of five years without reappointment, has received the most criticism. Professor Dr. G.
