Maharashtra Political Crisis: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday chaired a national executive meeting in Mumbai, as his party’s drama unfolded a full-blown political crisis, threatening to bring down the MVA leadership in the state.

During the meeting, Thackeray made a scathing attack on the rebel leader Eknath Shinde, who was at the center of the crisis in the state. he said, “Himmat hai toh khud ke baap ke naam par vote maange, balasaheb ke nahi“-(If you dare, ask for votes in the name of your father, not Balasaheb).

Shinde may soon name his group of rebel MLAs as ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb’.

He said, “Some people are asking me to say something but I have already said that they (rebel MLAs) can do whatever they want, I will not interfere in their affairs. They can take their own decision, but Nobody should be using it.” Balasaheb Thackeray’s name,” the CM had said.

During the meeting, Shiv Sena leaders also discussed their future plans and made a three-point plan to keep the government intact.

The points of discussion were:

  • Uddhav Thackeray was given full power to take any decision for Shiv Sena.
  • No one can use these names Balasaheb Thackeray and Shiv Sena.
  • The party president will also have the right to take action against those who betray the party.

Given Shinde’s rebellion, the party’s national executive is expected to authorize Thackeray to take decisions regarding the organisation. Along with Shinde, another disgruntled party leader and former minister Ramdas Kadam is likely to act. Both of them are members of the National Executive. Kadam’s son MLA Yogesh Kadam has joined the rebel camp in Guwahati.

Earlier on Friday, Thackeray called a meeting of district chiefs, in which he said the rebel MLAs who were camping in Guwahati wanted to “break the party”. Taking a jibe at Shinde, Thackeray said that he did everything for the rebel leader and yet many allegations were leveled against him.
