Two shot at VHP leader in Jharkhand

On Thursday, miscreants shot a local leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) near the Railway Running Room under Bagbera police station here, police said. East Singhbhum, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dr M Tamil Vernon said a man named Bablu Kumar Singh was shot dead by two men.

VHP secretary of Jamshedpur Metropolitan Committee Deepak Verma said that Singh is the president of VHP Bagbera committee. Singh was shot and was taken to Tata Main Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. The SSP said that a total of five to six rounds were fired in the incident. The incident took place over domination in the area.

Asked whether the victim was a VHP functionary, Tamil Vanan said he had no information about it yet. However, investigation was on to gather the details. Regarding the accused, the SSP said that Singh has named two people who opened fire on him. The accused had come out of jail about a month ago. The police team reached the spot and recovered some empty cartridges from the area.
