Turkey Earthquake: NDRF, Turkish Army Rescue 8-Year-Old Girl From Rubble

Ankara: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with the Turkish Army on Friday rescued an eight-year-old girl from earthquake-hit Turkey. The girl was trapped alive under the debris of a building in a severe earthquake in Nurdagi, Gaziantep, Turkey. NDRF tweeted, “Hard work & motivation pays off. NDRF team along with Turkish Army rescue another surviving victim (8yr old girl) at 1545 hrs at LoC: Bahceli Evler Mahalesi, Nurdagi, Gaziantep, Turkey” Successfully saved from.” NDRF’s tweet shared a picture of the rescue operations underway in Turkey.

Earlier on Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the NDRF for saving the life of another minor girl in Turkey, saying the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to make the NDRF the world’s leading disaster response force.

Taking to Twitter, Shah had said, “Proud of NDRF. In a rescue operation in Turkey, Team IND-11 saved the life of six-year-old girl Beren in Gaziantep city. Under the guidance of PM @narendramodi, we @NDRFHQ Committed to making India the world’s leading disaster response force #OperationDost.

India has sent six aircraft carrying rescue personnel, essential and medical equipment for earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria under “Operation Dost”. Following the deadly earthquake on February 6, the death toll in Turkey and neighboring Syria The number has crossed 24,000.

In a press release, the NDRF said that their team, in a joint operation with Turkey’s AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), rescued a 6-year-old girl alive from the rubble of a collapsed structure in Noordagi town of Gaziantep province on Thursday . NDRF rescuers have also retrieved 08 bodies from the debris so far. Rescue operations by the NDRF are underway in the affected areas since February 7.
