On Friday, a massive fire broke out at the Jenxing martial arts school in central China, killing 18 people and injuring 16 others. It is not yet clear what caused the fire in Shecheng County of Henan province, but most of the affected are children. Children aged seven to 16 were sleeping on the first floor at the time of the fire at the martial arts school.

A total of 34 students were enrolled in a boarding school in Shecheng County, Shuangqiu City. Four people have been said to be seriously injured in this fire.

An eyewitness said he heard the children shouting for help. All the children shouted and we tried to help by pouring water on the fire, but she did not stop.

Witnesses told that the fire became so fierce that there was no way for the children to reach them. According to the official CGTN-TV report, the fire has been doused and the police have taken the in-charge of the school into custody.
