Top Railway official raided by CBI; Rs 1.57 cr cash recovered

Image source: India TV The CBI had registered a case on 03.01.2023 against the then Principal Chief Operations Manager (IRTS Officer), East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets of Rs. 1.92 Crore (Approx).

The Central Bureau of Investigation has conducted searches and locker operations in the ongoing investigation of alleged disproportionate assets case against Shri Pramod Kumar Jena the then Principal Chief Operations Manager (IRTS), East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar. Cash amount of Rs. 1.57 crore (approx); Postal Savings Instrument/Bank FD of Rs. 3.33 crore (approx); Bank Balance Rs. 1.51 crore (approx); Mutual Fund of Rs. 47.75 Lakh (approx); Gold bars, gold biscuits/coins and gold ornaments worth Rs. 17 Kgs (worth approximately Rs 9.5 crore) and documents relating to immovable properties were recovered from the bank lockers/premises of the accused and others including family members/relatives etc.

The CBI had registered a case on 03.01.2023 against the then Principal Chief Operations Manager (IRTS Officer), East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets of Rs. 1.92 crore (approx) in the name of him and his family members during the check period 01.04.2005 to 31.03.2020.

Searches were conducted at various places including Bhubaneswar, Jagatsinghpur (both in Odisha) and Kolkata. During the search, 03 locker keys in the name of the wife of the accused and 05 other locker keys whose names were not readily available were recovered. So after a lot of effort, the names of the owners of the lockers as well as the locker numbers and bank branches were found out. So far 07 lockers have been made operational and the remaining lockers are being made operational.

Investigation is going on in the matter.
