Top Delhi School Gets Bomb Threat Via E-mail, Police Call it a Hoax

Police said it appears to be a prank, adding that the details of the e-mail are being probed by the cyber team.

A top private school in south Delhi was evacuated for a thorough search after it received an email on Monday claiming there was a bomb inside its campus, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Chowdhary said, “The e-mail was received at 1.19 pm on the official account of Indian Public School, Sadiq Nagar.”

Police was informed and bomb disposal squad, dog squad along with the staff of Defense Colony police station reached the spot. He said that the school premises have been evacuated and a thorough search has been conducted. However, no bomb was recovered.

Police said it appears to be a prank, adding that the details of the e-mail are being probed by the cyber team.

Speaking about the incident, the school administration told PTI, “We took immediate steps to evacuate the children, even as we informed the police, who immediately mobilized bomb disposal squad and cyber experts. No time was lost in taking action on multiple fronts as per our safety protocols to ensure the safety of our students, which is our top priority.” Normal classes will resume from Tuesday.
