It is worth mentioning that Balwinder Singh, father of Kulwinder, a tailor of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Dugri, reached Dugri police station on Saturday evening to lodge a complaint and also shared his video recording.
Balwinder Singh recorded his statement with the police. He accused Dhuri’s ASI Kulwinder Singh of harassing his son and forcing him to commit suicide.
He later said, “We are the victims. My son shot himself and the doctors have said that he can die anytime. However, the police have filed an FIR against him making false claims. The police have registered an FIR.” In which it is said that Kulwinder shot himself by mistake while cleaning the weapon, which is a complete lie. I did not give any statement to the police on this.
“First of all, Kulwinder had made a video before taking the extreme step. Again, the angle of injury of the bullet also makes it clear that this was not an accident. He had placed the pistol on the temple and pulled the trigger. I know the police is trying to save the cop, but I will fight for justice,” said Balwinder.
TOI also spoke to Kulwinder’s live-in partner Mannat on Saturday.
Mannat said, “Kulwinder and I were living together since July 2021. We woke up at around 11.30 on Thursday, I had tea and Kulwinder had milk. After that Kulwinder asked me to come for shopping. However, I refused. Diya because I was not well. Kulwinder said that this might be the last time he is asking me for shopping. But I did not get his signal. He also spoke to my sister on video call and complained that I I am not ready to go shopping with him.
“Later in the afternoon, I asked him to have lunch but he refused to eat anything. At 2.19 he left the house saying that he would return in sometime. At around 2.40 pm, Kulwinder made a video call and said that this is his last video call. I scolded him for saying this. Kulwinder asked me to watch a video he had sent me and disconnected the video call. As soon as I saw the video, I was shocked to know that he was going to commit suicide. I called him immediately, but he did not answer the call. Thereafter, I called his mother and asked if Kulwinder was there. He said that Kulwinder has just gone out of the house saying that he will come back in a while. I forced them to go out and investigate. When his mother and father went out, they saw him lying in an injured condition and took him to the hospital,” Mannat said.
When asked if she knew about Dhuri’s ASI Kulwinder Singh, who had allegedly harassed her live-in partner, Mannat said, “Yes, Kulwinder had shared with me many times that ASI Has been harassing her since 2018, when she was first arrested. Case. He told me that the ASI was sending him messages through someone to meet him personally otherwise he would implicate him in criminal cases. For the last few days, Kulwinder was very upset due to the harassment.
The family said that according to doctors, Kulwinder is brain dead and will not survive.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that he has directed the ADCP (investigation). Jagatpreet Singh to investigate the matter.
