Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday presented her argument regarding the meat ban in Navratri. He said that the Constitution of India gives them the right to eat meat whenever they want. On this issue, she tweeted- ‘I live in South Delhi. The constitution allows me to eat meat. It also gives freedom to open meat shop. full stop.’

His statement came after South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Mukesh Suryan’s letter demanded the closure of meat shops in the municipal corporation area during Navratri.

Mukesh said, ‘We will strictly close all the meat shops. Neither meat will be sold nor people will be able to eat it.

EDMC also announced closure of meat shops
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) also announced the closure of meat shops on the last three days of Navratri i.e. Saptami (seventh day), Ashtami (eighth day) and Navami (ninth day). Notably, the nine-day Navratri is being celebrated from April 2 to April 11, with Saptami, Ashtami and Navami falling on April 9, 10 and 11 respectively.
