TMC MP targets Goa CM Pramod Sawant, demands probe into property – World Latest News Headlines

TMC MP Mahua Moitra On Friday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was attacked for leasing a stone quarry named after him in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, saying it was a matter of checking his “disproportionate assets”.

Quoting a letter dated November 7, 2019 from the office of Deputy Regional Director, Maharashtra, Moitra, who was appointed as the TMC’s state in-charge for Goa this month, said: “The letter clearly shows That Pramod Sawant… Sindhudurg… But the big question is that if the government had ayurvedic doctors, from where would they get the money to lease the mine? In the letter, the mining plan was approved in the lease area of 1.20 hectares in Mouje Talekhol stone mine.

“I will ask PM Modi to conduct a CBI and ED probe of his current CM,” Moitra said. “I am an elected MP… Earlier, I was an investment banker with a decent salary. If you tell me to go and buy mine, I can’t do it… He was an Ayurvedic doctor, as far as I know, his father worked in a mine,” she said.

While Sawant’s office did not comment on the issue, officials said the issue was raised by the Goa Forward Party two years ago and Sawant had then said that the land was insufficient for mining. He had said that if he had anything to hide, he would not have got land in his name.
