Mysore: The Forest Department has confirmed that… Tiger who was found dead a few days ago near Kachuvinahalli under Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, which recently killed a tribal near Ayyanakere Hadi in Hunsur taluk.
On 8 September, Ganesh (20), a resident of Ayyakere Hadi in Hanagodu Hobli in Hunsur taluk, was killed by a tiger when he had gone to join the call of nature. Hadi is close to the Muddanahalli forest area under Anechokuru of the Hunsur Wildlife Division of the Tiger Reserve.
After the death of Ganesh, the Forest Department and the Special Tiger Conservation Force (STPF) launched a search operation to locate and capture the tiger. They installed camera traps and trap cages at two places.
Nagarhole Tiger Reserve Director D Mahesh Kumar Said that on 9 September, they verified the camera trap and found that the camera trap in the ballet and another near a cage had captured the tiger’s movement. But after that the camera did not capture any movement of the tiger at that location.
To trace the tiger, the department had launched a search operation using the elephant camp – Ganesh, Balaram, Arjun And Mahendra – Along with mahouts and kavadis, about 20 forest guards and 15 men of forest guards and STPFs.
Mahesh said that on September 17, he had found the carcass of a tiger during a search operation in the Kachuvinahalli forest near Kallakare. They took pictures captured by the camera trap and sent them to Tiger Cell in Bengaluru for verification.
“We got the report from the cell which confirmed that the tiger that killed the tribal is similar to the tiger that was found dead in Kachuvinahalli based on the stripes and other details on its body. had gone. This is the same tiger that killed the tribal.”
