Thunivu is an action heist film written and directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor.

Exposing the corrupt nature of agenda-driven media outlets or the police and banking system is something that H Vinoth has nailed in the film.

After last year’s Valimai, the trio of Ajith Kumar, H Vinoth and Boney Kapoor are back with their latest offering Thunivu. The film went through an extensive promotional campaign, which was unusual for an Ajith Kumar film. Thunivu focuses on a bank robbery, only for the thieves to realize that the bank has already been hijacked by the protagonist aka Nayak of the film. What is his motive behind the kidnapping? How is the conflict between robbers and kidnappers? They form the essence of the story.

Greed for money is an integral theme of the film throughout the story. Most of the characters are motivated by the motive of money, and the film also shows how money exploits the personality of human beings in general. Ajith captivates the audience from his very first scene. Her body language, dialogues and stylish dance moves are all flamboyant and poignant.

Thunivu doesn’t play to the formulaic South Indian film tunes where the leading ladies are reduced to being romantic interests for the larger-than-life protagonists and the glamor quotient of the film is amped up. Actress Manju Warrier has an important character in the film, and there are some action sequences where we see her showing off her agility.

It is interesting that Ajith’s name remains a mystery to us. For short periods of time, he goes by the aliases Michael Jackson, Chief, or Darkdevil. Nice attempt to discuss bank scams in thunivu.

Ghibran’s background score is the highlight of this film and adds weight to the narrative. Vijay Velukutty’s cinematography should also be appreciated. The climax does not live up to the expectations that are raised throughout the film; And it also goes a little longer than necessary. Deep dialogues and fast-paced screenplay are the highlights of the film.
