Thieves loot Rs 16 lakh by breaking into an ATM in Gujarat Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: Unknown thieves took Rs 15.70 lakh in cash by breaking into the safe of Union Bank ATM in Morbi town. The ATM is located at Seven Sera Mall near Bela Village on Morbi-Jetpur Road. According to Morbi taluka police, the incident took place between Friday and Saturday afternoon.
The thieves broke into the cash safe stored behind the ATM and took away Rs 15.70 lakh from it. Bank officer Sanjay Rajpara has lodged a complaint against unknown people. Preliminary investigation reveals that the thieves used gas cutters to break into the ATM. Police have started investigation in this case on the basis of CCTV camera footage.
Earlier last week, during the curfew in the newly developed Nageshwar area on Jamnagar Road, thieves had cut open ATMs of two banks and fled with Rs 15 lakh in the early hours. One of these ATMs belonged to a nationalized bank and the other to a private bank.
